In 1953 Clifton “Skip” Hammond was a bootstrapping entrepreneur who spent fair-weather days cutting down pine trees and foul-weather days milling the logs into lumber at a diesel-powered sawmill on Route 27 in Belgrade.

Bard College Media Lab

Hammond Lumber Company is a part of projects all over Maine and we’d like to share this exciting project started in Brewer by Snap-Space Solutions and Maziar Behrooz Architecture. They are repurposing four shipping containers into a Media Lab for Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.

Memorial Library

The Dr. Shaw memorial Library in Mount Vernon has started their summer reading program and this year's theme is Build a Better World. Kids will work with residents throughout the town building models of rain forests and learning skills like woodworking and how to use tools like screwdrivers and measuring tapes.
