Fall Open House
We really enjoy being part of a big Maine community, and our open house events allow us to say thank you by welcoming all families to 13 Hammond Lumber locations for a festive day. A lot of work goes into planning and prepping for our statewide events, including product demonstrations, refreshments & giveaways, as well as scheduling our employees to work together in roles that may be beyond their day to day tasks. Here’s a brief recap of the day.
Product Demonstrations
Throughout the day we offered ongoing product demonstrations for homeowners and DIYers looking to jump on their interior project list this fall and winter. We offered installation demos for cabinets, countertops, flooring, and moulding. All our knowledgeable sales staff were on hand, along with many of our vendor representatives, to answer everyone’s product and project questions. Remember the question you forgot to ask that day? No worries, call or come in during our regular hours to pick up where you left off, or we can start drafting your new project!
Product Specials
We matched our product demonstrations with complementary specials to help you kickstart your projects. Whether your focus is buttoning up the home for winter or giving your kitchen or bath a new look, we have you covered! We worked with many of our vendors to offer a wide range of seasonal event specials to fit these needs.
Plenty of Chances to Win!
All of our stores offered prize wheels where guests had the chance to win discounts, gift cards, apparel and win multiple grand prizes drawing tickets. Many winners found these prizes to be an exciting way to help get their projects started!
Gift Basket Giveaway & Flooring Specials
Our kitchen, Bath & flooring department offered a well-crafted “gift basket of goodies” for each of our stores to include in prize-drawing giveaways. The basket included a Boos Block cutting board and conditioning oil, maple syrup, maple cookbook, maple pepper, local honey, local jam, pancake mix, a set of Hammond Lumber Company mugs and HLC measuring spoons and cups. Everyone who met with our designers that day received a chance to win one of these great baskets!
Several brands of specially priced flooring were offered during the event. Our helpful staff are happy to show you installation tips and tricks or connect you with professionals, to help make your project a success.

Touch-a-Truck!
This year we introduced “Touch-a-Truck” as a new addition for families with young children looking to explore a forklift, climb into a payloader and honk the horn of a boom truck!
Fortunately, most of our locations were able to include fire & rescue response vehicles in their line up to help draw attention to National Fire Prevention Week. Police cruisers also made the lineup at a few of our stores and to all the emergency response personnel able to join us that day, we sincerely thank you!
Local businesses in the area worked with us to make the line up much bigger! Other non-Hammond Lumber vehicles and equipment included dump trucks, energy fuel trucks, a monster truck, speedboats, John Deer tractors, paving equipment, ATV vehicles and more!
Supporting Fundraising Efforts to Fight Cancer
We commonly share our Open House date with many other local events that day, and again this year we extended our support for the Walk for Hope, organized by MaineGeneral Health. This year the colors, gray speckled and cobalt blue, represented ending all forms of cancers. Every net dollar raised was matched by Hammond Lumber with proceeds going to cancer research. We continue to promote and sell these cups right up until November 18.
