Celebrating National Safety Month with National Safety Awards

June is National Safety Month which makes our recognition of the receipt of many National Safety Awards very timely!

Many of our locations earned the 2022 Occupational Excellence Achievement Awards given to each location that has zero fatalities and a lost workday case incident rate equal to or less than 50% of the Bureau of Labor Standards rate during the 2022 calendar year.

Those 19 locations earning the awards are: Auburn, Bangor, Bar Harbor, Belfast, Belgrade, Blue Hill, Boothbay Harbor, Bucksport, Camden, Cherryfield, Damariscotta, Ellsworth, Fairfield, Farmington, Greenville, Machias, Rockland, Rochester and Skowhegan.

In addition, these locations are in the running for the NSC Industry Leader Awards to be selected by the NSC.

Our Auburn branch achieved the Million Work Hours Award which is awarded for 1,000,000 employee work hours without an occupational injury or illness involving days away from work. This NSC honor was earned for the period July 1, 2010, through December 31, 2022, with a total hours of 1,206,123 and still running.

Auburn, Belgrade Sawmill, Belgrade Planer Mill and Boothbay Harbor also qualified for the NSC Superior Safety Performance Award. To qualify a location must have zero work related fatalities, zero work related injuries and zero work related illnesses involving days away from work for a minimum consecutive ten-year period.
