Showing Up for Our Community: From the Runway to the Softball Field

Over the past few weeks, our team supported and participated in two meaningful events here in Maine. One took place on an airport runway. The other took place on the softball fields. Both reminded us of the importance of teamwork, community, and giving back.

Travis Mills Foundation Plane Pull

Our team took part in the Travis Mills Foundation Plane Pull® at the Portland International Jetport. Teams worked together to pull a FedEx plane across the runway to raise money for recalibrated veterans and their families.

For the fourth year in a row, Hammond Lumber Company was honored to support the event as its Presenting Sponsor. Watching groups of people line up, grab the rope, and move a 45-ton aircraft was an unforgettable display of teamwork and determination. Even more impactful was the purpose behind it, supporting veterans who have given so much for our country.

Maine Strong Memorial Foundation Softball Tournament

We were proud to be the Presenting Sponsor for the third year in a row and to compete in the Maine Strong Memorial Foundation Softball Tournament in Lewiston and Auburn. This year’s event brought together 27 teams from across the state for a weekend of softball, remembrance, and community support.

Our Hammond Lumber Company team took the field and played alongside friends, coworkers, and community teams. This tournament honors the 18 lives lost in the Lewiston tragedy and raises funds to help Maine families facing sudden hardship. It is a powerful reflection of resilience, unity, and what it means to show up for one another. Seeing our team out there playing, cheering, and representing our company was something we are truly proud of.

Why Events Like These Matter

Both events looked different, but they share the same values.

  • Working together toward a common goal
  • Supporting our community in meaningful ways
  • Making a difference where we live and work

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, donated, supported, or showed up in any way. We are proud to be part of a community that comes together when it matters most. We are already looking forward to next year!
